The Institute Multimedia DerHumALC was created to encourage and inspire civil society to think about human rights matters. Fundamental to the vision of the organization is the belief that Freedom, Democracy and Human Rights are universal and inalienable rights.The Institute Multimedia DerHumALC aspires to use multimedia as both a means for formal and informal human rights education.

It is the mission of the Institute Multimedia DerHumALC is to create an environment that stimulates public and private interest in the production, diffusion and distribution of works of cinema and video that encourages the production, distribution and discovery of cinema and video that promotes human rights, the defense of the environment, and the right to the development. The Institute Multimedia DerHumALC gives aid to audio-visual productions and the diffusion of cultural, artistic, scientific and educational resources with both national and international governments and non-governmental organizations. Additionally, the Institute facilitates exchange programs among teachers and experts in the areas of the audio-visual sciences, in order to start common projects and to extend cooperation and collaboration in educational and cultural activities that reinforce the knowledge, the development and the protection of human rights.

The Institute Multimedia DerHumALC is home to a public media archive that serves as resource for schools, non-governmental organizations and television channels. Additionally, the archive provides a space for the protection and exchange of human rights documents, videos, and publications.

The Institute Multimedia DerHumALC  is a participant in the following international networks:
